The Oklahoma rock band Hinder made an appearance in Niagara Falls on Tuesday night, May 17th. The tour stopped at Rapids Theatre in Niagara Falls, New York. Hinder took the stage at about 10:10PM, headlining a four band concert. The anxious crowd gave lead singer X a warm welcome as the band started the set with "Two Sides of Me" from their latest release 'All American Nightmare.' They continued with a mix of hits from all three of their releases.
Musically, the band put on a tight performance as X paraded back and forth across the stage. X's voice was strong and he commanded the audience with his charismatic stage presence. Although he did acknowledge that he was in Niagara Falls, and he did engage the audience in a sing-a-long during "Hey Ho," he did not take the time to connect with the crowd. He was all business, moving from one song to the next without much banter. Despite his charming nature, he seemed a bit rushed, likely because there were three bands before him.
Lead guitarist Joe Garvey slung his six string behind his back and played an acoustic guitar that was on a stand in front of him for the crowd favorite "Lips of an Angel." Then, Garvey strapped on the 12/6 double necker and owned the spotlight for "Waking Up the Devil." Rhythm guitarist Mark King also displayed an impressive array of guitars throughout the show and drummer Cody Hanson did a fine job keeping the beat.
Kudos, however, go out to bassist Mike Rodden. He hopped to a chair and sat down with his bass for this show. His apparent injury did not interfere with his ability to perform. He was out there, like a trooper, pluckin' and grinnin' with his bass. Hinder finished up the set with "Room 21" and Rodden hopped off the stage. As the crowd chanted "one more song," Hinder, including an again hopping on one foot Rodden, returned to the stage for a two song encore. At this moment, X took time to thank the audience and to thank the opening acts, Red, Kopek and Royal Bliss, before some simulated scratching revved up the fans for "Put That Record On." The band ended the show with "Get Stoned."
Set List:
2 Sides of Me
