Vinyl Playlist: X
by Bryan Reesman on Jan.10, 2011, under Hard Rock & Metal, Music Musings, Vinyl Playlist
Who: X, frontman for Hinder.
What: The Top 5 songs and/or albums on his turntable right now.
Where: Los Angeles.
Latest Album: All American Nightmare.
Hinder frontman X:
Loudly and proudly old school.
1. THE YARDBIRDS “I’m A Man” (from Having A Rave Up) — “I love everything about the Yardbirds. [sings the riff] It’s that classic, old, almost every song sounds the same [vibe], but I just dig the shit out of it. To me, nothing really beats like vinyl. It all sounds like AM radio, and it all sounds so loose.”
2. THE ROLLING STONES “Under My Thumb” (from the Hot Rocks compilation) — “You put the Rolling Stones in your iPod now, and its so loose. I love the jangly Keith Richards [style]. He goes in there and plays it once. ‘Think we can get another one from you, Keith?’ ‘No, that’s how I played it. That’s how it’s going to stay. I’m going to go get high.’”
3. GRAND FUNK RAILROAD Live Album — “It’s the first live record that I ever heard, and I’ve always just been intrigued by it.” (Listen to “Are You Ready”.)
4. AEROSMITH Toys In The Attic – “It’s too hard to pick one [song to highlight]. It’s an amazing album.” (Listen to the title track.)
5. HEART “Crazy On You” (from Dreamboat Annie) — “That song’s f**king great. She sounds really pissed. I s her do that back in May, and she still just sounds great, dude."
