Toryn Green is best known for his stint as the lead singer of the multi-platinum band Fuel and more recently, as the touring lead vocalist for Finnish goth rockers Apocalyptica.
Toryn’s musical journey began as a child in Wasilla/Palmer Alaska. When his family moved to California, he took his songwriting to the stage and gained notoriety with his band Something To Burn. After winning several “Battle of the Band” type competitions, Toryn ran into Stone Temple Pilots/Velvet Revolver vocalist Scott Weiland. He jumped at the chance to play Weiland the latest STB demos. The very next day, Weiland and his management called Toryn and the band into his studio where they were offered a deal through his label, Softdrive Records. In the midst of this whirlwind, Toryn auditioned for the vacant lead vocalist position in Fuel. He was contacted the same day STB was offered a deal from Softdrive Records and Toryn decided to accept the vocalist position with Fuel.
Toryn and Fuel recorded the album “Angels and Devils” for Epic Records, which was released in August 2007. The band toured in support of the album through early 2008 and appeared live on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno & TLC’s season finale of “LA Ink,” where Toryn was featured getting ambigram tattoos on his forearms.
In April 2008, Toryn was contacted by Apocalyptica to join them as lead singer for their Spring & Autumn US tours. He performed with them again at Apocalyptica's US television debut on NBC's "Last Call with Carson Daly."
For 2009, Toryn has begun collaboration with several co-writers and wanting his own project, has teamed up with the remnants of Long Island hard rockers A Farewell Fire. With the musical core of AFF recently splitting with their singer, Toryn slid right into the lead vocal spot and thus "for the taking" was born. Writing and rehearsals have been effortless and debut gigs in Long Island & Indianapolis have already begun.
