So, I was at a local show for my pals Neomune and I see Jake Daniels (on air personality for the KATT) there with my friends mother. I walk up to him and introduce myself and then proceeded to ask why Hinder isn't receiving any airplay.. he then gave me alot of bullsh!t excuses like about how long it takes to get a band on the air, review the song, and that all the pieces have to be in the right place for them to spin a new band, and then he said, 'especially a local one at that'.
*The post has been edited in light of morning soberness.. got a little heated last night, but its all good.

What Jake said about the whole process sucks, but it is probably true. We are a small market, but that still does not change the fact that it really is a process to get a new artist on radio...no matter how good the song is. As far as Universal using Hinder for a quick buck or for one song- that is pretty much bullsh!t. They got an amazing record deal and many of the details of it more than suggest that Universal is making more of a long term investment in the band as opposed to cashing in on one song.
I think the really important thing for us, as Hinder fans, is to stay positive with all the radio personalities. Nothing will hurt the band more than if radio is pissed off at them (or their fans) and then they decide not to play the song. Even though Jake is not being supportive now, I am guessing he will be later when the song starts blowing up. Better late then never. Anyway, I can especially understand that it pisses us off when people are even remotely sh!tty about the band/music we love, but we really have to make an effort to be "nice fans." (this is not directed at you, Houston...it is just something we should all think about since we all- and me for sure- tend to get fired up about Hinder). Anyway, we should just keep requesting the ever-loving sh!t out of the song and I think the katt will get behind to band soon enough.

Well, Well. I am going to have to agree with groupie on this one. I personally called and spoke with Jake Danial's (he is also the Music Director for the KATT) and he did agree that the song is good. He commented that the Buzz would probably be playing the song first because they play anything new that is put out (basically). The people at the KATT don't know what all has transpired and whats about to take place. There are alot of bands that have released one single, it shoots to the top and everything released after that is mediocre (Element 80, No Address, 3rd Strike just to name a few). One thing I can personally say about the KATT is that when credit is deserved, credit IS given, and they WILL be playing the song eventually, and will WANT to know the inside story on how all this developed. I will admit, us die hard Hinder fans can be aggressive when it come to others slamming or not "Seeing what we see" in this amazing brotherhood of musicians. Give it some time. The single isn't supposed to add until later this month anyway. When the BIG BOYS push, all the little dogs will follow and then we will see the imprint. Everybody have a great and safe weekend. We are going to Cinderella tonight and I will probably BS with Blade-runner. Did anyone know that one of his first radio jobs was at Q-102 in the mid 80's? Yeah!!! He likes us and WILL listen... Peace to all

Sorry about going off. Oklahoma City radio seems to have such an agenda and it really aggrivates me. I cannot wait until we can hear Q102 all the time. Now, you may gather from what I said that Jake was a d!ck .. he was actually a nice guy .. I just really irritated me that, like Danielle and Med said, he wasn't seeing the entire picture. But anyways, I don't normally go to these lengths to bring negative attention to someone, but when we as a whole collective fanbase have given everything we have to love and support Hinder as much as we possibly could and then someone just basically writes it off, that really bothers me a bit. But nonetheless, he wasn't rude or anything, actually not a bad guy, but his opinions and comments I didn't agree with.

I spent a summer working as an intern for all of the Citadel stations and what Daniels told you...is a joke.
I know of plenty of guys who heard a band, liked them, put them on the air. No promos, no hype, just "hey this is good, let's roll with it".
Now obviously local stations are going to be tougher on local bands, because they don't want a reputation as "amateur hour", BUT it's pretty clear that Hinder has gone through the neccessary steps to be receiving airplay on two very mediocre rock stations in OKC.
