Well Musicsteve, you tried to be nice and start a thread to bring us all together and once again, a few have spoiled it and made it a bust. I don’t look at most of the sections here anymore except the general music for this very reason, although I thought Cody deserved to be wished a Happy Birthday so I did start a thread in that section. Jackie’s post was fine. We all know her story and get the fact that the band means a lot to her. It’s okay to have different opinions of what being a fan is and I’m sure that my opinion is going to be different than the next person’s. Going to 40 shows doesn’t make me a better fan than the person that has only been to 1 show.
I'm not really sure why sarcasm had to be brought into this thread at all. I guess it’s just me but I personally didn’t see anything wrong in what RexRox posted. I took from it that because of her family situation, she’s not able to go to many shows but wanted to acknowledge that she’s made a lot of friends thru this forum and some of them just happen to be older than the band and have similar family priorities as she does. Bam, done, good to go, move on to the next post. This place has become so mean girl oriented, once the beat down starts, it just doesn’t let up and it seriously ruins it for the rest of us. It accomplished absolutely nothing except to take this thread into another ugly direction.
I know that as long as this mean girl mentality exists on this board, certain sections of this forum have zero priority in my life and it’s really a shame. I really used to look forward to visiting here but not anymore. We obviously care or we wouldn’t continue to show up. I think we all deserve better and there’s no reason why everyone can’t peacefully co-exist! If you have a problem with someone or something that has been posted, take it to pm and try to resolve it. With the upcoming cd release this fall, I’m going to give this place another shot. But I also know that I can’t take much more of the bullshit.

Anna, I take zero offense at the "older" comment. I know I'm older and there's no way to escape that fact!
I didn't really mean to stop the whole thread with my post! So I guess I'll continue and share a little bit of info about me.As most of you may have gathered so far, I'm probably one of if not the oldest that post here. This year I turned 52 but that doesn't mean I can't hang with you youngins! I dare any of you to try and keep up with my concert schedule. Obviously being older, gives me a better financial opportunity to see more shows and I'll be the first to admit that I've been very blessed to see and meet as many bands as I have. My only regret is not realizing my passion for music when I was younger. Had I known back then what I know now, I wouldn't be in the accounting field, I'd be doing something in the music world.
I'm also very much into photography, altho I am by no means close to a professional. I've been able to buy some pretty decent cameras over the years so I have to admit, I've taken some pretty good shots. I'm going to hold out hope that at some point in the next few years, I can maybe become more of an official concert photographer and not just a fan photographer.
I think I've made a claim to fame (so to speak) by making cookies for what I call my circle of bands. It's something that they've come to expect when they come to town and even when I travel out of state to see them. There was nothing more flattering than being b!tched at by Rev Theory and Black Stone Cherry for not bringing cookies to them at Rock on the Range in 2009.
I agree with Anna that I've made a lot of friends thru Hinder and this forum and my friendship with them will continue on long after Hinder is done and gone (which I'm hoping is not any time soon). That includes your everyday fan as well as some of the boys' family. I love these boys like my younger brothers and don't always like their actions, but they are band boys and I know the routine so they get a get out of jail free card from me. That's not to say that the boys and I haven't had issues, but I've learned to confront them in a comical manner and still get the point across. Remember the DUFF's comment?? I know that I've been blessed to have made these friendships and don't take any of them for granted.
In closing, for you younger fans, learn from me. If music is your passion, don't give up on it. Work hard for it every day and never lose sight of your personal integrity and morals along the way!!

Great idea Steve. Let me reintroduce myself.
I am Susan from Mississauga. Also known as BSM on the boards. Like many Canadians, I love hockey, Tim Horton's coffee, and NICKELBACK!
I have been a fan of Hinder since I first s Lips of An Angel on the Much Music show, PunchMuch. So far, I have seen Hinder in concert twice and hope to see them again pending my work schedule and remaining vacation time.
I totally agree with you Steve, there is nothing like new music. Sure, I liked the music I grew up with but I always like listening to new sounds. My taste in music is varied. Hinder reignited my interest in going to concerts again.
I joined this board to talk about Hinder and other bands. I have been here for over three years (where's the time gone?) and have absolutely NO intention of leaving. I'm here to stay, BABY!
PS - I love your frog, Steve! ;D

With the upcoming cd release this fall, I’m going to give this place another shot. But I also know that I can’t take much more of the bullshit. Well, I wasn't going to give this topic anymore of my time, but I feel the need to defend my comments. I have been attacked on this board so many times, without reason I feel, by the mean girls that you speak of. I have never spoken about anybody on here in a deragatory way unless they spoke to me or of me first or any of my friends on here. I wish this forum was the way it used to be when I first came on, but I know it never will. Along with the mean girl mentality there is also the clique mentality, that everyone who is friends on here gangs up on the younger members. I won't name names, but you know who you are. People have pretended to be my friend and have stabbed me in the back repeatedly. But, I'm willing to move on. My comments on here were made out of sarcasm and I probably shouldn't have posted them, but if I had to do it again, I would. Ok, now that thats off my chest. Let's get back to what this thread is all about. Sorry for hijacking your thread, Steve!

Hey I am Jennifer and I hardly ever get on the forum anymore. I have been a fan of Hinder since 2006. I used to love coming to the forum but I have decided I don't want to read all the crap and bickering so I just stopped. I love your intentions Steve with this thread. It is too bad everyone can't get along but it's never going to happen...that's the way the world turns.

..Chrissy , anyways...I have been a Hinder fan since '06, joined this board a few weeks before my first Hinder concert in '07. I have been lucky to get to see Hinder a bunch of times, but I agree that doesn't make me a bigger fan than anyone else. as there are other bands I haven't had the opportunity to see as many times, and I don't feel that makes me any less of a fan of any of those bands. I haven't been on the board as much lately, but I haven't forgotten about Hinder or stopped loving them. w/ them in the studio there isn't that much news on here, but anyways, I am excited for the new album, can't wait to hear it and see them again!

I don't understand why everyone keeps talking about how many shows make people a fan of a band. I honestly call myself a fan of only two bands: hinder and rev theory. They are the only bands I actively seek out information on and care what they are doing. Right now, other bands I like songs from, but since I don't follow them like hinder and rev, I don't call myself a fan. I'm wondering how everyone else defines being a fan since it keeps being brought up. And I realize this prob should have been its own thread but I don't have time to retype it cause they are bringing the kids out from school now
